The Program is Here!

And I can't believe that I'm already disappointed that I am not going to be there the whole time. One movie that I really wanted to see is Iron Jawed Angels starring Hilary Swank who starred in Boys Don't Cry, one of my favorite movies of all time. Iron Jawed Angels is about two suffragists who ended up in prison because of the work they did around 1900. Iron Jawed Angels is only showing January 16th, 17th and 18th.

The other movie that I really wanted to see was In the Company of Women, a documentary about women filmmakers and actors in a white male dominated industry. That is only showing one night, on Friday, January 16th.

The program is so long and detailed so I haven't had enough time to chart out what movies I really want to see, but some on the top of my list include: Redemption, a true story about the man who started the Crips gang; D.E.B.S., an action chick-flick with a lesbian relationship as part of the main plot; Deadline, a documentary about Illinois Governor George Ryan and his march to putting a permanent stay of executions in the state; Heir to an Execution, a documentary about the son of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg; Persons of Interest, a documentary about how Muslims were treated in the US after 9-11; Supersize Me, a documentary where the director, for 30 days, has to eat nothing that isn't on the McDonald's menu and explores the US's obsession with fast food;CSA: The Confederate States of America, a mockumentary in the style of Ken Burns about America if the south had won the civil war; The Control Room, a documentary about the war on Iraq from the point of view of Al Jazeera.

And I'm only about a third of the way through the program. I haven't yet figured out what I can see based on schedule and location. Then I need to talk with Susan and we need to decide what we are seeing together.

All this has to be done before January 6th so we can call first thing to order tickets when the sales lines open up.

I hope I can make it in time!
